Quill of Goose

Tuesday, 09. January 2007

It is been quite a while since I bored enthralled my readers with another of my poems written especially for TheGreedy Maelstrom.

Well, your luck just ran out.

Quill Pen

In storied time the quill of goose did leak
The lines of love and filial bond upon
The fragile parchment ere twas sped across
The aching gulf that separated hearts.

Our time does now such romance chide as quaint
And current patience wait will not abide.
We must it now; once had, we else will have.
The treasure yearned for now is cast aside.

But then the time when parchment journeyed far
Allowed the love and bonds to grow and root
In fertile souls in which the richest fruit
Returned again to feed its very source.

The speed by which our love is giv’n and shared
Is also that by which our flaws are bared.

  2. Oh, lemuel, that’s a lovely poem! I enjoyed reading that very much; so glad you shared that with us :o )

  3. A sonnet forsooth!

Speaking of storied times, it’s humbling to consider, considering the glacial pace of communication and commerce back then, the challenges and inconvenience of goosequill and goatcart, the monumental accomplishments our prolific forbears achieved. Did Shakespeare ever eat?
