Plastic Week
Sunday, 04. May 2008I have been trying very hard not to spend any plastic lately, but some times the best laid plans go awry. I also like it when you can just shake the dust bunnies out of stuff and have it work - and even work better - like Ben and Nick’s dryer.
Alas! That is not how things go in Lake Gonebelow.
This past week was a plastic week.
Midweek Baby Blue let me down after work. He would not start. His batter died. Luckily a coworker had cables and gave me a jump. I felt so manly and het! I got my baby to the car doctor and he put in a new battery. $$$$. Imagine an original equipment 60-month battery only lasting 8+ years! Zheesh! They just don’t make things to last like they used to! *wink*
Then Friday evening the washing machine gave a dying gasp after thirteen years. I broke a cardinal law of the Maelstrom on Saturday and we went to a Store of Home Improvement and Eye Candy of the Lower Variety to buy it. The clerks in appliances were very good, but the rest of the story was a disaster. The checkout clerk was a sweet young thing who was more interested in her nails than any customers. To straighten out her mess I had to go back to the appliance department and find the good clerks. Then someone in the office failed to fax the order to the deliver sub contractor, so we had a “delivery circus” today, but all (except the balance on my credit card $$$$) was well in the end.
I hope your week was less plastic.
* * *
That’s a wrap.
Sending HUGS to all!

I am sorry to hear to hear you have had so much trouble. A trip to eye candyland is always nice, but not when you end up having to pay a bunch to look!
Isn’t it nice when things go well in the end? *wink*
you musn’t worry about money; it leads to stress.
If you read my post today, you’ll see I was using the plastic over the weekend. But it will make my mom happy, so that’s what counts.
Oy. I hope this time bad things only happen in “twos.”
It was a plastic week, but I bet the items will be long paid for before it’s time to replace them — especially when you get more than 8 years from a 5 year battery. Sorry about the delivery snafus, but that’s part of customer service (Which is becoming quite the oxymoron)! Hope this week goes better.
Well, that’s how it usually goes with those places. But, I hope everything is back in order now, and that you can wash clothes and drive like the dickens!!
I’ve got two loads if you want to test-drive the washer.
Thank goodness it wasn’t anything major. Hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here.
sorry to hear you had to pull out the plastic, i know your pain…. I have my two credit cards in a ziploc bag in my freezer frozen in a big slab of ice, just to keep from using them.
ouch! I feel your pain. They’re repaving the parking lot at our business. I dread the assessment bill we’re going to get.
